    Luz was born and raised in Napa, California, where her early experiences shaped her deep commitment to social justice and community advocacy. She went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley, earning a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies with a focus on public health and public policy.

    Throughout her academic career, Luz concentrated on understanding how policy decisions impact underserved communities, particularly in the areas of health equity and access. Her work reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation, combining critical analysis, historical context, and policy evaluation to address systemic inequities.

    Driven by a longstanding passion for social justice, Luz is committed to advancing equitable solutions that improve community well-being and expand access to opportunity. She brings a thoughtful, community-centered perspective to her work, grounded in both academic training and personal commitment to meaningful change.

    Outside of her professional life, Luz enjoys spending time with her two boys, creating memories to last a lifetime. On weekends, you can often find her exploring new trails, fishing, or simply getting lost in a great book.
