Mara's Memorial Fund

In Memory of Mara

December 5, 2010 – September 30, 2019

Mara died far too young.  The principal at her Elementary school wrote, “Her smile, compassion, and keen intellect will be sorely missed.” A classmate said, “Mara left a hole in our hearts.” Mara was a friend to all. She was a curious learner, a lover of science and nature, and an imaginative thinker.

Mara loved butterflies. In her honor, Community Resources for Children (CRC) donated Milkweed plants to local daycare centers and preschools. Through this gesture, we hope Mara’s passion for butterflies, science, and nature will continue to inspire and be shared with Napa’s youngest learners.

Mara also had a special love for toys and once dreamed of becoming a toy tester in CRC’s Toy Library. To honor her memory and that beautiful dream, we’ve placed a memorial plaque in our Toy Library and Early Learning Center—a lasting tribute to her joyful spirit and love of play.

Mara left us with love and an appreciation for all that is good and wonderful in this world. Mara’s parents have kindly asked Community Resources for Children to accept donations that are made in Mara’s memory.

“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart.. I’ll always be with you.”
