Community Resources for Children Launches Project She Cares to Highlight the Importance of Child Care in Napa County

In September 2019, Community Resources for Children (CRC) celebrated local women child care providers and launched Project She Cares, a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of child care in our community through videos, stories and portraits.

In addition to keeping parents in the workforce, child care providers play an important role in caring for and nurturing young children. With the rising cost of living in our area many families are faced with longer working hours or multiple jobs to make ends meet; the result is that more children are spending more time with informal child care providers such as grandparents, friends and neighbors. It is important that all adults who care for children are empowered with tools and know how to best support their children’s healthy growth and development, says Erika Lubensky, Executive Director of Community Resources for Children.

Community Resource for Children provides one-on-one coaching, trainingworkshops, playgroups and support groups for all types of child care providers. Topics covered in workshops include how to support the emotional needs of young children, building school readiness skills, how to set up environments that are developmentally appropriate and much more!  Child care providers rely on CRC for professional development and for getting answers to specific questions such as challenging behaviors, developmental delays, and strategies on how to work with children of multiple ages

“Investing in child care is critical as many young children spend more of their waking hours with a child care provider than with a parent; many children learn their colors, numbers and ABCs while in child care, they reach milestones such as crawling, walking and feeding themselves while in child care and they learn how to get along with others in child care; these are all skills that prepare them for a lifetime of learning, said Ms. Lubensky.

In the coming year, CRC will continue to highlight child care providers in our community through videos and stories; and with support from donors and community partners, child care providers will receive training in business fundamentals allowing them to open and grow thriving child care businesses.  To support this effort please visit https://crcnapa.org/project-she-cares/.

CRC is thankful for the continued support of The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) who, like CRC, believes in “Healthy Kids, Healthy Valley”. “The NVV has been a key supporter of CRC for many years allowing our organization to pilot important programs and to be innovative and creative so that we deliver maximum impact for each dollar invested,” says Ms. Lubensky.

2019 Provider Appreciation Night

What a great Provider Appreciation Night!  Local child care providers enjoyed the various “minute to win it” games, catching up with friends, self-care bags, a light dinner and wine tasting provided by Greg Schaefer of Porter Family Vineyards and Humberto Guivarello.

Community Literacy Day was a hit!

Thank You Napa Valley Vintners!

On April 24th we had the pleasure of giving staff from the Napa Valley Vintners a tour of our Toy Library and Early Learning Center and sharing with them about our programs through hands-on activities; we introduced them to one of our brand new STEAM kits that we train child care providers and caregivers to use to engage with the children under their care so that they are prepared to enter Kindergarten ready to learn!

Thank you Napa Valley Vintners for your continued support of early learning and care for all children in Napa Valley. Thanks to you, Community Resources for Children provides quality early learning and care for more than 3,000 children!
