Active Minds Explores the Deep Oceans!

Our first “Talk Read Sing Bilingual Playgroup” was a hit!

A family of three stands in a library, smiling as they browse the shelves of books and furniture.

A big shout out to our wonderfully creative Education Specialists who organized an engaging and entertaining playgroup around the story of The Three Little Pigs, including a bilingual puppet show! Themes will vary every month so make sure you have the dates on your calendar – first Wednesday of every month from 9:30 to 11 AM in the Toy Library and Early Learning Center!

40th Anniversary Celebration at CRC’s Toy Library

A plate of cupcakes is present.

More than 60 donors, supporters, partners, families, child care providers, volunteers, current and former board members, and community members attended Thanks-4-Giving, Community Resources for Children’s 40th Anniversary Celebration in the Toy Library and Early Learning Center on November 28th, 2018.

The appreciation event was also a reunion for former staff, board members and community members working in the field of early learning. Carole Kent, the founding board member of Community Resources for Children (CRC) was honored and acknowledged for being a pioneer in emphasizing the importance of “quality” child care 40 years ago, a vision that helps guide CRC to this day.  Former Executive Director, Diana Short, was honored for her 20 years of leading the organization, and Leslie Gevurtz, current Board Chair, was honored for her commitment, dedication and contributions to CRC. Finally, Senator Bill Dodd thanked CRC for 40 years of outstanding service by presenting a resolution co-signed by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry. A representative from Congressman Mike Thompson’s office presented a Congressional Record Statement in honor of the 40th Anniversary.  Almost $10,000 was raised from event sponsors and donors for school readiness and parent-child engagement programs in the Toy Library and Early Learning Center.

We are thankful for our donors, board members, partner organizations, volunteers, child care providers and families and all those who attended our 40th Anniversary Celebration. A special thank you to our event sponsors and new and continued donors. We would also like to thank Congressman Mike Thompson, Senator Bill Dodd, and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry for the recognition in honor of our 40th Anniversary. READ MORE
